Glossary

The Datastreams Platform introduces several concepts and acronyms. This section is a brief explanation of the concepts and it’s uses.

DataOps

A collaborative data management practice focused on improving the communication, integration and automation of data flows between data managers and data consumers across an organization.

DevOps

A set of practices that combines software development and IT operations. It aims to shorten the systems development life cycle and provide continuous delivery with high software quality.

DimML

DimML is an acronym for Data in Motion Machine Language, which is a proprietary domain specific language that runs on the DPU. All modules are eventually generated DimML code.

DimML

Data in Motion Machine Language. A proprietary domain specific language that runs on the DPU.

DPU

The DPU is an acronym for Data Processing Unit. The DPU does all the heavy lifting of the data processing. The data is asynchronously processed using a Directed Acyclic Graph(DAG) structure.

FaaS

Function as a Service. A category of cloud computing services that provides a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage application functionalities without the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure typically associated with developing and launching an app.

KYC

Know your customer or know your client.

SaaS

Software as a Service. Software as a service is a software licensing and delivery model in which software is licensed on a subscription basis and is centrally hosted.
